Roof for A Child - April 2020 Update

Body

Dear friends and partners of Friends Social Transformation Network (FSTN) and the #RoofForAChild campaign,

We hope that each of you and your families and dear ones are doing good in health and in your jobs in these unique circumstances of the ‘Covid-19’ pandemic.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 -- 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 ‘𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱’ -- which now stands postponed to hopefully the fall of 2020.  We do not have a firm date yet, as the calendar has not yet opened up. While these hardships have brought our day to day lives to a standstill, and in many cases, upended many of our lives even, the vision of the 'Roof for a Child' campaign with its mission of 'Educating children, Empowering communities' that is now in its fifth year - is still intact and we wouldn't be here without your partnership!

The boys hostel construction is in progress, and the plan was to complete a large room that would accomodate the boys for the upcoming school year. The lockdown has been extra-tight in this area due to a cluster of Covid-19 cases in nearby Indore.  Construction has come to a complete stop, but the current hope is that the school year which slated to start early June will also be postponed because of the lockdown, and we still might be able to get some of the boys to start. Hectic work is underway behind the scenes regarding admissions to the schools, etc. Please keep these in prayer.

𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐫, 𝐌𝐇:

A large dining room and 2 smaller rooms are completed to a usable degree. The other rooms have reached up to the lintel level. The younger girls had been put up in the larger dining room, with the older girls in the 2 smaller rooms for privacy, etc. Currently most of the 140 girls have been sent back home, with just a handful remaining back because their parents could not come in time to pick them up (lockdown). Please remember the workers and new plans in prayer. Many have continued to support us in a recurring mode, and a few who have supported us annually have reached out to us on how we could continue the support. We will be sharing more details in upcoming posts. Thank you, be safe, and lets pray that God would provide with a safe, quick end to this pandemic. Please reach out to us for any concerns/clarifications.
